On Set with Shel: The Force Season 2 | Key Art Experience

When producer Shel joined the team for The Force Season 2 key art, it came about the way most of her projects do: through a referral. “An absolute blessing,” she says, and one that led to an unforgettable production in the heart of downtown Chicago.

From day one, the energy on set was electric. With multiple crews, VIP clients, and curious onlookers filling the streets, the experience was as intense as it was exciting. “There was never a dull moment,” Shel recalls. “It was A-mazing—a lot of work, but a lot of fun. Nothing like shutting down major downtown streets and wetting them down to make some magic.” ✨

Of course, no production runs like clockwork without a dream team. Enter Shel’s Angels—her right and left hands who kept everything humming behind the scenes. Josie and Kay made sure every detail was covered, from organizing transpo and keeping schedules tight to ensuring Shel stayed one step ahead. “I couldn’t have done it without my Angels,” Shel says. “They anticipate needs before I even say them.”

The shoot came with its share of wild moments, like when her phone vanished, only to be found on top of a cab and later returned thanks to her production coordinator, Josie. Even amidst the chaos, Shel kept things moving, improvising with her iPad and Apple Watch to stay on top of the action (no small feat, given downtown Chicago’s spotty cell service!).

Adding to the magic was a special personal touch—Shel’s son, Joe, who joined the team as a production assistant. Watching him work on set was a proud moment for Shel. “Seeing Joe there, contributing and holding his own on a major production, that meant the world to me,” she says. 🫶🏾

One of her most memorable moments came not on set, but before it. Pulling up to the client kickoff luncheon with the Starz VIP team, Shel took a quiet moment to reflect. “It was full circle,” she says. “I thought about where I started, the doors that opened and closed, and the incredible female and POC crew I had dreamed of when I first started this journey—now standing there waiting for me.”

She also speaks fondly of watching actor Joseph Sikora seamlessly slip in and out of character, calling him “a true thespian” who nailed his lines with effortless precision.

When asked what made the experience so impactful, Shel points to the collective spirit. “It’s never just one person—everyone plays a role,” she says. “Every project teaches me something new. Each one promotes me—and my crew—to the next level.” That sense of collaboration and shared purpose shaped how she approaches every project moving forward. And true to form, Shel’s Angels—Josie and Kay—were right there beside her every step of the way, ensuring that the production didn’t just succeed, it soared.

“Every project teaches me something new. Each one promotes me—and my crew—to the next level.”

Looking back, The Force Season 2 marked a pivotal moment in Shel’s career. It reminded her that everything she dreams of is within reach and that she is, in her own words, “able, belongs, and more than enough.”

And as for how she’d sum up the experience? Shel doesn’t hesitate: “Nailed it. What’s next?” 🙃💁🏾‍♀️
